Monday Sports Albom

Not many sports-related talk shows can count among their guests a Super Bowl winning quarterback, an NBA Rookie of the Year, the most volatile coach in NCAA history, or a former U.S. president... not unless it is Mitch Albom's Sports Albom.

The show is renowned for Mitch Albom's probing, in-depth interviews with the biggest names in sports, as well as Albom's frank and often explosive commentaries on sports. Sports celebrities such as Alan Trammell, Barry Sanders, Joe Dumars, Steve Yzerman, Wilt Chamberlain, Ed Belfour, Tom Landry and Jim Abbot are but a few of the guests that listeners get a rare chance to talk with on a one-to-one basis.

Originally the nation's first weekly sports talk show on an FM rock and roll station, "The Sunday Sports Albom," grew into Michigan's most popular sports interview show. That popularity propelled it into Monday nights, where it is currently known as "The Monday Sports Albom," a prime-time program that, with the power of WJR, reaches 38 states and well into Canada.

Albom was named "Number One Sports Columnist" in the nation for over 13 consecutive years, and has won over 100 other writing awards from such organizations as the AP, UPI, and National Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association.
